What is your understanding of Karma? Mine always was if you do nice things for others you rack up brownie points and nice things will happen to you. Easy. Apparently it is quite a bit more than that and it is very difficult. It seems every time you hurt, judge, or cause damage to someone you will get the same back. Note that judging also means positive or negative judging.
The scary part is if karma hasn’t been equaled out in this life it will continue through all of your life times until it has been settled. That means if you don’t get a handle on this it will follow you throughout all of your lives. The great part is if you are now aware and work towards being mindful of what you do and how it affects the future then you have already started the process of improving your life.
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
It was one of those dreaded books assigned by my high school english class. However it is a book that I’ve never forgotten about even though I’ve forgotten about pretty much everything else from High School.
Ultimately it is a book that had me thinking about being part of a greater plan, if you have any control of your destiny or you’re just a puzzle piece that serves a single purpose. One word of advice, don’t cheat and watch the movie. It changes too much. Even though Jim Carrey does great narration, the movie does one tenth of what the book will. – Colin D
